Young hockey players needing gear to follow their dreams can get some help at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.
The United Way of Lunenburg County is once again hosting their annual gear swap in the main foyer,.
United Way Coordinator Michael Graves says this is a way for community members to help each other.
“We’re encouraging people to take what they need. And if they have older hockey equipment that they’ve outgrown and no longer use, then leave that hockey equipment. We’ll make sure it’s in good shape then put that back on the tables.”
Graves says any parent knows, hockey is an expensive sport.
“So if we can cut down some of the costs of playing hockey by providing free, quality, used hockey equipment, that gets more people into the game. Which is what we want as an organization.”
Graves expects the tables will remain in place until Labour Day.
