Another Local Hockey Team Taking Part In Pink In The Rink.

Like the Yarmouth Junior A Mariners, the Shelburne County Bantam A Flames will wear pink sweaters in honour of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The game takes place at the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena on Saturday at 1:30.

Flames Head Coach Andrew Holland says it’s important for the players to participate in something like this.

“I thought it would be a good way for Shelburne County Minor Hockey kids to give back to a worthy cause.”

Holland says there will be an opportunity for people to make donations.

“We have a donation box set up at the door and people can put their donation in there and then we’ll give it to the local cancer society. I think we’re going to have a breast cancer survivor come out and drop the puck for the opening face-off.”

The Flames opponent, the South Shore Ice Sharks will also have pink tape on their sticks and pink laces on their skates.
