Art is In Action In Lunenburg

A unique art tour is taking place in Lunenburg for the first time this weekend.

Art in Action is a behind the scenes look at how artists create a masterpiece.

Acrylic painter, Merrill Heubach, says the idea is to remove the barriers between those who make art and those who consume it.

“It’s very welcoming, we invite people in and say ‘this is what I’m doing, and if you’re interested I can show you what I’m up to,” she says. “Or if they want to watch, they can. I think it’s going to be really very friendly and comfortable.”

She says sometimes traditional galleries make people nervous.

“The idea behind this whole thing is just to bring people into a studio without them feeling uncomfortable or intimidated by ‘galleries’”

Heubach says the three participating studios are all on one street which allows people to walk from one to the next.

She says there will be a few artists at each location each working in different mediums including paint, sculpture and pottery.

The event goes both Saturday and Sunday.
