Barrington Holds Tax Rates, Passes Budget

The warden for the Municipality of Barrington expects this year to be lean on spending.

Council recently approved their 2016-17 budget.

However, it didn’t come easy.

The municipality is facing a decrease in revenue and an increase in expenses.

Eddie Nickerson says they’re pleased to hold the tax rates – $1.00 per 100 of assessment for residents and $2.55 for businesses.

The $7.75-million budget includes money set aside for paving, upgrades to the Sandy Wickens Memorial Arena and a new dehumidifier at the Barrington Regional Curling Centre.
