Barrington landfill site to re-open Monday

Life is slowly returning to normal in Barrington.

The C&D landfill will re-open for public use on Monday.

The site off Highway 103 caught fire, and crews worked for several days to put it out.

Warden Eddie Nickerson says it’s important to have it up and running.

“It’s certainly a bonus to have all the residents using it, and we need it to dispose of all the debris created by the fire,” said Nickerson.

He says times are tough for many community members who have lost homes.

“It’s affected the community in a big way. Even though not everyone lost homes, most know of at least someone who did. It’s a healing process that we need to go through.”

He advises those who have questions to call the municipal office.
