The province’s transportation minister says the sailing season will not be delayed for Bluenose II.
A consultant report has been ongoing since December regarding the schooner’s rudder and hydraulic steering system.
It caused Bluenose II to be out of service for several days in 2015.
Geoff MacLellan says according to a draft version of the report, no major work is required.
“There is still the normal maintenance and things that can happen during a season with any vessel. But, in terms of the long-term, we’re certain there won’t be anything pressing before the 2016 sailing season begins.”
The report, being conducted out of Rhode Island, cost about $30,000 and should be released by March 1.
Bluenose II is scheduled to begin sailing June 1 in Lunenburg.
