Changes could be coming to Bluenose II.
The Department of Transportation is planning to speak with engineers and other experts about the vessels hydraulic steering system.
It caused a handful of public sails to be cancelled over the summer.
Minister Geoff MacLellan says they will explore options before making a final decision.
“There has been a number of opinions on what exactly the rudder could be or should be. Lots of people are comfortable with steel but not solid steel. There is also composite or wooden.”
MacLellan says it could mean alterations to the current system or a large-scale retrofit.
He says they have to make sure the ship is operating effectively and efficiently.
Nova Scotia’s sailing ambassador wrapped up its first sailing season this week.
