Eleven schools are going up for review in the South Shore.
The regional board approving reviews for Big Tancook Island Elementary as well as the Bridgewater and Park View family of schools.
They include Park View Education Centre, Bridgewater Elementary, Bridgewater Junior-Senior High, Bayview Community School, Bluenose Academy, Hebbville Academy, Chester District, Newcombville, Pentz and Petite Riviere.
Vice-chair Cheryl Fougere says the work begins immediately.
“The superintendent will direct the facilitator for the process. He’ll reach out to those schools by communication to let them know that the process is about to start.”
There will also be committees formed over the next month to conduct the reviews.
Reviews will look at things like operational costs, grade configuration and the potential for amalgamation or closure.
Reviews are expected to begin towards the end of November and finish late next spring.
