If you’ve got a book lover on your Christmas list, South Shore Public Libraries has a way to get them the perfect gift and help the community at the same time.
They’ve launched their annual buy a book fundraiser.
Deputy Chief Librarian, Jeff Mercer, says it couldn’t be easier to get involved.
“You donate the cost of the book to the library so that we can share it with the whole community. So, you’re sponsoring us being able to share it with everyone.”
Mercer says while the library receives money from both municipal and provincial governments, they’re still required to raise a certain amount on their own.
He adds, sponsoring a book gets you a name written inside the cover and that person will get first crack at borrowing the title.
Mercer says money donated will help them create bigger and better programs to serve the community.
The fundraiser runs until the end of December.
