Bridgewater Adopts Healthy Eating Policy

It’s an initiative to try and get people to choose healthy snacks over junk food. The town of Bridgewater has adopted a policy to increase the amount of nutritional foods provided in recreation and municipal settings. The new policy affects all recreation facilities, events, fundraisers and vending machines on properties in the town. The plan will be implemented in two phases; the first two years will focus on providing mostly nutritional foods with other options to choose from. After two years, there would be an evaluation with a move to increase the amount of nutritional foods while cutting down on unhealthy items. Meetings will be scheduled with staff and canteen operators to renegotiate contracts to include the healthier foods.
