The a line in the federal budget announced on Tuesday could help a Bridgewater bus service become a reality.
A $3.4-billion investment in community transit could provide some help getting the system up and running.
Councillor Michael Graves says creating a transit service is very expensive.
But, he adds it will take more than money to make the system work.
“So, it’s go to be on time, all the time,” he says, “If we can do that, then I think we can have a successful system.”
The town is commissioning a study to help them understand what it would take to get the service off the ground.
Graves says the study should answer some basic questions.
“Routing, areas to serve, stuff like that. Then, providing it’s affordable, I think we can move forward…hopefully we can move forward.”
There’s no indication yet if any federal money will make it’s way to Bridgewater.
Graves says they’ll be keeping an eye on what happens in the coming months.
