Bridgewater pet owners will have to wait to play outside with their pooches.
The public dog park slated to open near Glen Allan Drive has been delayed.
Preliminary testing showed soil used in landscaping may not have met environmental standards.
The town has hired an environmental consultant to see if the soil poses any threat to the public.
Bridgewater CAO Ken Smith says opening the park depends on what the specialist finds.
“If there’s moderate impact, then we have to take action to deal with it, and if there’s significant impact, it’s going to take a lot longer.”
Smith hopes to have the consultant working on the site as soon as possible.
