Bridgewater Eligible For $15,000 To Conduct Public Transit Feasibility Study

A bit of good news for people hoping for a public transit system in Bridgewater.

The town has been awarded up to $15,000 for a feasibility study.

Bridgewater’s application was approved under the Department of Municipal Affairs Transit Research Incentive Program.

Director of Planning, Jessica MacDonald, says she expects a request for proposals will be submitted this month.

“It will be out for a few weeks and we hope to get a good number in then we would select someone to award that to and hope to get work well underway before Christmas.”

MacDonald says a feasibility study could look at things like a bus route or potential costs.

She doesn’t expect to have a report back to council until the new year.
