Bridgewater: Expansion Underway At Small World Learning Centre

A Bridgewater daycare centre is expanding to provide child care programs in one location.

Construction has begun on the 2,000 square foot extension at the Small World Learning Centre on York Street.

The centre currently operates out of a combination of rented and owned buildings.

Cailynn Bruce is on maternity leave and hopes this is the start of things to come.

“There is not many places for our babies to go, so, she’s on five waiting lists right now. We’ll find out next April when I need to go back to work, if she’s going to be able to get in somewhere or not.

The expansion will include a wheelchair accessible washroom, two classrooms and hallway for cubbies.

Donna Stapleton is the executive director and says the addition will make it easier for parents.

“This addition will bring our after school and our part-day pre-school programs under one roof because currently they are at Alexandra Avenue.”

A non-profit organization, Small World Learning Centre’s expansion is funded through grants and cash donations.
