Bridgewater Fire Department Warning Of Scam

Another scam is making the rounds.

Bridgewater fire department says they’ve heard from at least two people about telemarketers looking for money in their name.

Fire Chief Michael Nauss says the department only does one fundraising drive in the spring to help with training and equipment costs.

“We do early May and we go door-to-door when we do that. This is some sort of a scam that’s been started. I’ve heard of it happening before somewhere else, but this is the first time it’s happened in the Bridgewater area that we’ve heard of.”

Nauss says the callers ask for two hundred dollars.

He advises anyone who receives a call to hang up and report it to the police.
