Bridgewater First Responders Grateful For Record Number Of Donations

An outpouring of support in Bridgewater helped area first responders smash through their record for food donations.

Members from RCMP, EHS and Bridgewater Police Service were collecting donations for the Bridgewater Interchurch Food Bank this past Saturday at the Bridgewater Superstore.

They managed to raise their highest total ever, taking in almost $1,800 in monetary donations and $16,000 worth of food.

Paramedic and organizer Nicole Monaghan says the generosity of people is amazing.

“These are the biggest totals by far. The food bank expects we almost doubled our food donations from last year.

Monaghan says the area’s first responders are grateful to everyone who took the time to make a donation.

“We have just such a phenominal, supportive community and such great businesses that are willing to help us out. I think that’s what did it.”

This year marked the tenth the organizations have joined forces to support the community at Christmas.
