Bridgewater: Float Operator Feels Threatened For ATV Use In Upcoming Parade

The upcoming Christmas on the LaHave parade in Bridgewater isn’t putting Nancy Wentzell in the festive spirit. She’s had a float in the event for several years but she says the town is threatening to fine her. Her float uses two ATVs. She says she was told any ATV going past the parade route would be fined. Wentzell says other options should have been considered. She says, “I felt they should have given us a special events permit or escorted us back but anyway, they proceeded to make sure we are aware we would be fined.” Wentzell says her float usually gives hundreds of teddy bears to children. She says she has 1,000 this year and children can pick them up at PJs Bargain Centre in Maitland.
