Cannabis went on sale across the country this morning.
In Bridgewater about 80 people lined up to buy their pot legally for the first time.

Many were excited they could purchase from a store, while others expressed concerns.
“People that buy marijuana they want to smell it, they want to feel it. They don’t want to order it online.”
“This is good times for me. I’ve waited my whole life for this.”
“I had to drive forty-something minutes to get here. If my community was allowed to sell it I wouldn’t have to waste fossil fuels driving here.”
“It’s about time. It made too many people criminals for too long, for no reason.”
“Trudeau kept his promise.”

At the front of the line were a group who had mixed thoughts on today’s historic event.
“I was going to stay here all night if I had to. We just came off back shift.”
“The worst fear are the driving laws. How are the police going to say I smoked a joint five days ago and I’m not legally able to drive?”
“The provincial government doesn’t want anybody else to make money. They want to have a monopoly.”
“They’re saying you can go right here in this parking lot and smoke a joint if you want to. But I don’t think that’s the situation. It’s just like liquor, you can’t go there and drink a beer.”
“I never thought it was going to come to this day.”
We’ve provided a link to how the cannabis laws are being applied in Nova Scotia here.
