Bridgewater: Paths Will Be Extended to Glen Allan Drive, Generations Active Park

Lunenburg West MLA Mark Furey was on site at a local park in Bridgewater Friday afternoon to announce an extension of two paths.

There will be a 500 metre extension to the path at Glen Allan Park that will connect to Generations Active Park.

It will start at roughly at 8 Streatch Drive.

Sandy Mair-Dodman, the Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture in Bridgewater, says it will be a barrier-free gravel path.

She says construction will start in mid-October.

“We’ll try and get the majority of the work done in the fall and if there is anything that has to be done in the winter, hopefully we’ll get that completed.”

Work must be completed by next March under the funding guidelines of the provincial government’s Connect2 program which is providing $18,000.

The Town of Bridgewater will match the funding.

However, Mair-Dodman says the town will seek additional funding to enhance the project.

Furey and town councillor Michael Graves spoke about the project in the video below.
