Bridgewater police dealing with complaints about loud mufflers

Residents of Bridgewater are being reminded to follow the rules of the road including having good working mufflers.

Police say they are aware of modifications to motorcycles and passenger vehicles that are illegal and causing excessive noise.

“Callers have reached out to us with concerns about revving engines and loud mufflers happening late at night,” says Scott Freener, chief of Bridgewater Police Service.

He says they are dealing with the issue and with the public’s help can “zero-in” better on the problem areas in town.

If your muffler isn’t working properly, you can be ticketed.

“In the end, we really just want people to drive safely and abide by traffic laws,” says Feener.

If you notice a vehicle posing a safety risk, such as an excessively loud muffler, dial 902-543-2464 and provide as much information as possible (make/model of the vehicle, licence plate, direction of travel, description of driver).
