Bridgewater Police Raising Money To Purchase German Shepherd Dog

A police dog is in the works for the Bridgewater Police Service.

The department is fundraising to buy, train and equip themselves with a german shepherd.

Chief John Collyer says the cost is expected to be upwards of $20,000.

He adds, they are working together with Halifax Regional Police.

“Halifax Regional Police has agreed to train the handler and any dog that we purchase.”

Collyer says the canine will help them track down crime suspects and locate lost people.

The dog will be purchased this year and people can donate by contacting Bridgewater Police.
