Bridgewater Resident Sending Love to Thailand

The efforts to rescue 12 children and their coach trapped in a flooded underground cave in Northern Thailand touched many people around the world and across the country, including here on the South Shore.

Like many folks, Bridgewater resident Tanya Ernst, who works over at the Robin’s Donuts/Petro Canada on North Street in Bridgewater, watched as the events of the rescue unfolded over the past few days and just felt she had to reach out and show some support for those children.

Ernst took it upon herself to go out and purchase two large cards to be sent over to the children in Thailand.

“My heart was broken over them, but, it’s come to a happy end and we’re all ecstatic here and half of Bridgewater is ecstatic that these kids are all out and safe,” Ernst tells Acadia News.

The cards have quickly filled up with hundreds of signatures from customers and the general public.

And for Ernst, it was a simple gesture to show that they truly do care.

“I just wanted to send these cards to the kids to let them know that on this side of the country we’re thinking about them, I took it upon myself to get everyone to sign that we possibly could,” adds Ernst.

If you want to add your name, you can drop by Robin’s Donuts Petro Can on North Street in Bridgewater but you’d better hurry.

The cards are expected to be in the mail tomorrow (Wednesday, July 12th, 2018).
