Employees are back to work today at Dairy Queen in Bridgewater after an attempted robbery yesterday afternoon.
Eyewitnesses tell our newsroom a masked youth carrying a crowbar walked into the restaurant after 1 p.m. and demanded cash but was refused.
The suspect then left on foot through a path by CIBC to Porter Crescent.
Co-owner Bob Freeman says there were around six staff members working at the time.
Freeman says the incident happened in less than five minutes.
He says some staff were shaken up by the incident, but everyone seems okay.
Freeman adds Bridgewater Police has offered victim services if needed.
He says his wife, who is the other co-owner, is also a occupational health nurse and could help people get counselling as well.
Police confirmed last night that a male was taken into custody.
However, they have not announced any charges.
