The third floor unit at the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater is restricted to visitors.
Director of Communications, Theresa Hawkesworth, says there are symptoms of influenza affecting about five patients.
The unit is for people who are recovering from surgery.
She says it’s closed except for immediate family and expects the restriction to be in place for several days.
Hawkesworth says it’s that time of year when illness is circulating around the hospital.
Meanwhile, the Veterans’ Unit at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital in Lunenburg has reopened to visitors.
It has been restricted since February 9 due to illness.
