Bridgewater’s Getson Helps Islanders Rewrite History Book

Bridgewater’s Keith Getson and the Charlottetown Islanders are in uncharted waters.

The Maritime team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League has reached the semi-finals for the first time in franchise history.

It hasn’t been by fluke, though, as the Islanders have won eight playoff games in a row against Baie Comeau and Cape Breton.

The 19-year-old Getson says the club is confident as they prepare for the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

“Through the first two rounds we had two sweeps which is extremely huge for rest and everything like that and to re-energize for the next series. Our ultimate goal is to reach the Memorial Cup.”

The Islanders played the Armada twice in the regular season – winning both contests by shutout.

But, Getson says the club is up against their biggest test of the playoffs and can’t look past the Armada.

He has four points in eight playoff games.

Game one opens tonight in Charlottetown.
