Some fireworks at Bridgewater Provincial Court this morning.
John ‘Jack’ Buckley and his attorney appeared to set dates for a preliminary inquiry in the first degree murder case.
The 22 year old was returned to custody but before he was escorted from the courtroom he loudly declared his innocence.
Defence Lawyer Pat MacEwen says it’s what Buckley has been saying all along.
“That is his position,” he says. “He’s maintained that for a number of years now.”
This is the second time Buckley has been charged in the 2012 death of his mother Victoria Buckley.
He was originally charged with second degree murder but after 9-months in custody the case was dropped due to insufficient evidence.
In April Buckley was re-arrested and charged with first degree murder. He is due back in court on March 8th, 2017.
