It’s one of the first things you learn when you go into a media career, never trust the equipment. Whether it’s TV with cameras and microphones, or radio with microphones and now visual devices as well, always assume they are on! I feel this should be taught in public school for today’s world of social media and Zoom calls.
We get a reminder of this from what happened yesterday in the virtual House of Commons meeting. I think my favorite part was the statement made by a Bloc Quebecois MP Claude DeBellefeuille,
“We have seen that the member is in great physical shape, but I think members should be reminded to be careful and control the camera well.”
Liberal MP caught stark naked during House of Commons video conference
I don’t know how many people have been actually caught with their pants down over the past year. But with all the video meetings, I am sure there have been many close calls at least. Something to keep in mind, once something is said or seen, you can’t take it back.
