Canada will lead a NATO battlegroup in Latvia.

Canada will lead Operation Reassurance which include forces from the United States, Germany and the United Kingdom.
The purpose of the operation is to maintain stability in Central and Eastern Europe.
Land troops and a frigate will be deployed in operational and tactical demonstration and manoeuvres.
Up to six CF-18’s will provide air policing activities as well as fly periodic surveillance missions.
This is Canada’s largest sustained military presence in Europe for over a decade.
