Hard to believe it was this weekend 20 years ago that we celebrated the Junos in Halifax for the first time. What a time that was! Walking into a venue and the Black Eyed Peas are in one corner, I believe it might have been Shaye on stage and I ended up talking with a group of people including Pamela Anderson. For those of you are still think 20 years ago was the 80’s, the year was 2006.
This weekend Hamilton Ontario is the hot spot for Canada’s annual celebration of our country’s top musical performers, the 2026 Junos.
Now I am not gonna lie, I really hope my buddy Matt is bringing home some hardware from his nomination in the Contemporary Roots Album category.

There are many highlights planned as Nelly Furtado gets her spot in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and the Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Joni Mitchell.

There are a number of artists that have been mentioned as must be heard this year as well. For those of us that can’t make it to the weekend of celebration in Ontario, check out the list of artists that are being touted as some of the hottest up and coming acts of the year.
Juno Awards contenders: 5 Canadian artists you need to hear
I was trying to find the video clip of my favorite moment from the Juno awards show in Halifax back in 2006. That is where Pamela Anderson was booed for saying that the seal hunt was cruel and then Jann Arden took the stage to present the next award and stated that she was so in favor of hunting seals that she was wearing a bra made of seal eyelids, haha.
But since I can’t find it, here is Michael Bublé from 2006 in Halifax. Good luck to this year’s nominees.
