Canadian National Axe Throwing Championship Returning to Queens

Look out for axes being thrown in Queens next summer.

The 2019 Canadian National Axe Throwing Championships are returning to Liverpool August 24 and 25.

Over 1,000 people watched this year’s inaugural event at Centennial Park.

Suzy Atwood of Barrington won bronze and feels there is room for improvement.

“I didn’t have my best throw during the finals so I feel I could’ve done better. It is what it is, I was throwing axes and having a lot of fun which is the main thing.”

She says Liverpool provides a wonderful atmosphere for competition.

“You can’t beat a venue like that when you’re on the water, it doesn’t get much better than that. It’s a great town and super friendly.”

Competitors are expected from across Canada and as far as Europe.
