There are things I really dislike touching…. raw chicken is one of them. Yet I have no problem with touching ground turkey or hamburger.
Now this is going to sound totally random but it’s a combination of touching and that squeaky sound that cotton balls in pill bottles makes when you pull it out. Also, styrofoam for the same touch and sound reason.
Another combination of the senses no touch thing for me is mouldy fruit or vegetables. Mouldy potatoes or apples may have the worst smell in the world, and in a dark basement when you reach for an apple or potato from the bin (we’re talking grandparents old farmhouse cellar) there may be nothing as gross as your fingers sinking into said past due fruit or veg.
But the number one thing I hate to touch and this seems to happen to me every other day – is wet cat food. Inevitably with three cats I get some on my hands or fingers. Straight to the sink I go to wash it off well with soap and water. Yet I am pretty casual about wet dog food.
No one ever said our fears are rational.
