What started as a call to a single vehicle crash for the Bridgewater Fire Department turned into a battle to save a home.
Chief Michael Nauss says a small SUV crashed on Dufferin St. Late Friday afternoon knocking over two power poles.
“As we were doing our investigation around the motor vehicle accident we noticed some smoke coming out of the roof area of the house on the corner of St.Andrews and Dufferin Street.”
Nauss says the three apartment dwelling was evacuated.
“The fire went up one side of the roof and down the other on the inside of it burning the interior of the roof boards.”
Nauss says no one was injured but the people living in the upper apartment will likely be displaced for several weeks due to smoke and water damage.
The area was shut down for several hours while crews battled to contain the blaze.
Busy day for our Fire Services…thank you for your service & stay safe brothers & sisters
