Chester Flurries, Greek Recognized By Hockey Nova Scotia

Hockey Nova Scotia recently handed out its awards to officials, volunteers and players.

The Chester Flurries were recognized with the Ron Conrad Award as female team of the year.

The girls Peewee ‘A’ team had a tough year statistically, winning one game and scoring only four goals.

However, the girls supported each other, respected their opponents and played for the love of the game.

The Flurries are the first ever all-girls hockey team in Chester.

Meanwhile, Chester’s Morgan Greek received the women’s officiating distinction.

The 20-year-old has been a referee for eight years and was invited to the Canada Winter Games this past Feburary.

And, the boys under-16 and Canada Winter Games squad won the Fred Fox award as male team of the year.

It includes Lunenburg’s Walter Flower and Chester’s Jacob Myra.

The awards were handed out over the weekend as part of Hockey Nova Scotia’s annual general meeting.
