Chester: Municipality Contributing $10,000 To Forest Heights Project

The Municipality of Chester has made a significant contribution to a school project.

Forest Heights Community School in Chester Basin is raising money to expand its courtyard.

The rejuvenation project is looking to use the courtyard as classroom space and a community theatre.

Teacher Matthew Morash says $10,000 in support is appreciated.

“I’m ecstatic. This was unexpected and we’re really excited to get the project rolling.”

The total cost is $45,000.

The group is also expecting $1,000 for finishing in 10th place in the Majesta Trees of Knowledge contest – you can find more details here.

Deputy Warden Floyd Shatford says it’s a win for the municipality.

“I think the need to get the funds to get other funding started is very important, so I think the $10,000 that we brought here today will make this project happen.”

Students at the school are committed to complete the work.

Morash says the money could help them start building by the fall.
