Chester: Public Input Session Slow To Take Off

It looks like it may take some time for people to warm up to the spotlight in Chester.

The municipality held its first meeting that gave public a chance to speak openly to council.

However, only one person addressed council to thank them for creating the new initiative.

Warden Allen Webber says he was hoping for a better response.

“I guess it would’ve been nice if somebody had taken us up on the opportunity but I’m not really surprised that they didn’t. We’ll keep going with the opportunity.”

The municipality agreed last month to open the first 15 minutes of their council or committee of whole meetings to the public.

Webber says there is no harm to provide the service and hopes people will take advantage of it.
