Contractors have more time to bid on work at the former Gold River Western Shore elementary school. The Municipality of Chester has extended the deadline for the tender until December 19. An additional report needed to be included, which caused the extension. CAO Tammy Wilson says this is the first step of many renovations. She says, “The municipality is looking at repurposing the Gold River school for municipal purposes and relocating some of our operation to that building itself so the work was identified as part of a condition assessment that’s done on the building.” Work includes removing windows, roof drains, and insulation. The overall construction budget for work on the former school is around $780,000.
