Child Protection Services in Shelburne County will be impacted by provincial cutbacks.
Two councillors have been laid-off in the Barrington office, the remaining three are being transferred to Liverpool and Yarmouth and the office closed.
Barrington Warden Eddie Nickerson says children under 15 in the area will suffer the most.
He says: “These are children that are vulnerable and don’t have the means and ability to protect themselves from the elements that are causing them harm.”
Nickerson and his fellow members of Barrington Municipal Council have requested a meeting with the Premier and Community Services Minister Joanne Bernard to discuss the issue.
