Clark’s Harbour: A Make-Over For Iconic Lighthouse

It’s been a mainstay in Clark’s Harbour since the mid-1800’s.

The Cape Sable Island Lighthouse is getting some well-deserved repairs.

MP Gerald Keddy says the federal government is making a two-year investment to upgrade the lighthouse.

Repairs include, installing a heating system and restoring the original lantern.

The lighthouse will also be fully painted.

The Friends of the Cape Sable Island Lighthouse have been instrumental in preserving the beacon over the years and played a big role in securing the new funding.

Mayor Leigh Stoddard says it’s an important part of the area’s marine heritage and is becoming part of the town’s tourism package.
