Clock Running Out For Election Recount Applications

Some candidates are still reeling from the election night results and there could be some announcements coming.

The deadline to apply for a recount is the end of day Monday.

Andy Leblanc, Director of Policy at Elections Nova Scotia says a race has to be very close to trigger one without an application.

“It’s only automatic under the Elections Act if there are fewer than 10 votes difference. So, none of the ridings actually meet that criteria.”

Several ridings were won Tuesday night by a margin of less than 100 votes.

If the candidates ask for a recount the application would still need to be reviewed by a judge before it’s turned back over to Elections Nova Scotia.
