Confirmed Case Of Measles at Hebbville Academy

A case of measles has been confirmed at Hebbville Academy.

Public Health advised staff at the school late Wednesday afternoon.

Staff have contacted parents and a vaccination clinic will be setup at the school today from 1 p.m until 5 p.m.

Students who have signed consent forms or adults can get immunized.

Superintendent Scott Milner says they are working closely with Public Health to limit the spread.

“They put their protocols in place and we’re very confident in our partnership with them that we will make sure that all members of the community are safe.”

Milner says the case of measles involves a student.

Public Health says they would expect anyone exposed to develop symptoms including fever or cough, runny nose and red eyes between today and May 3.

Milner says Hebbville Academy is believed to be the only South Shore school with a confirmed case of measles.
