Conquerall Bank Land Named LaHave Sunset Park

A newly acquired piece of land in Conquerall Bank has a name.

The Municipality of the District of Lunenburg says the space along Highway 331 will be known as LaHave Sunset Park.

Thirty-four suggestions were provided in a naming contest and the municipality combined two of them to create the name.

Nataya-Lynn Wagner submitted the name Sunset Cove and Mitchell Foley came up with Sunset Island Park.

Mayor Carolyn Bolivar-Getson says council agreed to add LaHave to help identify the park’s location.

She says she’s admired the land since she was a child.

“The sunset from that view and just the tranquility when you’re on that parcel of land, it’s like you’re on your own little piece of heaven.”

The municipality bought the land in May to provide people access to the west side of the LaHave River.

A sign is expected to be put up in the next few weeks.
