I’m very jealous of one of my coworkers who retired recently, because he was telling me he was getting into 3D printing. That’s where you get a computer controlled “printer” that lets you create just about anything. Besides the thousands of free files on the internet of just about any object you can imagine, you can also get a 3D scanner that will let you scan small objects so you print your very own copies of whatever you’ve scanned.
I’m looking for a new hobby or interest, or perhaps getting back into an old hobby in the near future. I’ve been actively looking for one for over six months now.
Collections have always appealed to me – collecting things, building a collection but not spending an inordinate amount of money on it. Recently I cleared out our basement and garage so I have a big area to show off a collection. Now , what to collect? This is going to sound super nerdy, but I’ve always wanted to collect early home computers – Vic-20, Commodore, Tandy COCO, TRS80s and more.
Meanwhile, my wife Karen wants to get into making things out of concrete and cement after watching a number of Facebook videos. Friends and relatives should prepare for 100 pound concrete bowls as Christmas presents this year.
