Craft Beer Week Culminates With ‘Full House’ Event

Nova Scotians love their craft beer and most companies will be under one roof this weekend.

The Craft Brewers Association of Nova Scotia is hosting their signature event, Full House, Saturday at the Halifax Forum.

Breweries from the South Shore involved include Hell Bay in Liverpool, Firkinstein Brewing of Bridgewater and Saltbox Brewing in Mahone Bay.

Event chair, Jeff Green, says it’s a Shelburne company that stands out.

“Boxing Rock, for me, is one of the ones that has really led the way. They were the first brewery outside of Garrison and Propeller to package beer and have it widely available at the NSLC stores. They have done a tonne to kind of open up the market in all kinds of corners of the province.”

Other local breweries to be on site are Tanner & Co. of Chester, Rudders Brew Pub of Yarmouth, Heritage Brewing Company in Yarmouth, Shipwright Brewing Company of Lunenburg and Tusket Falls Brewing Company in Tusket.

Green says the industry is showing no signs of slowing down with more breweries preparing to open and a 49 percent sales increase from 2017 to 2018.

However, he says the industry is more than a numbers game.

He says it is like a community – for those who brew the beer and drink it.

“People buy beer from people they like and if someone down the street is making a living and creating beer that you can sit and enjoy with your friends in your community, that’s a pretty cool way to make a living.”

There are 50 craft breweries across Nova Scotia and 43 of them are participating in Saturday’s event.

Tickets are still available and can be found here.
