An annual event in Queens County is raising money to fight a disease affecting many Nova Scotians.
Curl for Cancer will be held Saturday at the Liverpool Curling Club.
Organizer Meghan MacAdams says a fundraising goal has been set at $6,000.
Money raised in the past has gone to ‘The Lodge that Gives’, Camp Goodtime and Cancer Connection but that is changing.
“This year they’re doing something different and we were actually able to choose where we would like the money to go. So we chose lung cancer research.”
Lung cancer accounts for over 20% of cancer deaths in Nova Scotia.
MacAdams says they want to do their part to help find a cure for cancer.
“Everybody knows at least one person that has had it if they haven’t had it themselves.”
There are openings for more teams to register at a cost of $20.
