Decorated South Shore Veteran Has Scholarship Established In His Name

A South Shore decorated Second World War veteran, journalist and author will be honored by a scholarship in his name! The Chronicle Herald Ron Mosley Scholarship Fund will be awarded each year, starting in 2015, to a Lunenburg County graduate wanting to pursue a career in journalism. Mosley, who’s an ordained church minister, is impressed with today’s young people and their level of interest in the past. The Bridgewater resident tells us: “I go into schools with other World War Two veterans and talk to them before Remembrance Day. I am always amazed at the interest and what they’re learning and how they respond! Tremendous young people!” Mosley, an army chaplain in the Second World War and seriously wounded in the Battle of the Bulge, has just released a new book called “The Kit Bag”. Its full of anecdotes from Second World War veterans about their experiences on the battlelines and the impact on the rest of the lives. Proceeds from the book sales go to the scholarship fund. By the way, Ron Mosley will celebrate his 95th birthday in September.
