An encouraging development for those residents of Shelburne County needing daily renal dialysis treatment.
Officials have met with the provincial health minister.
Leo Glavine has asked number crunchers in his department to come up with the money for a treatment centre closer to home.
MLA for Argyle-Barrington Chris d’Entremont is happy the issue seems to be moving forward.
He says: “I think we have a department that seems to understand the requirement and understands the issue of primary care and how dialysis fits into that in the Barrington region.”
Dialysis patients in Shelburne County currently travel to Yarmouth daily for treatment.
d’Entremont is suggesting several machines be purchased and added to the existing Barrington Passage Medical Centre.
