Division 1 Boys Hockey Championship Opens In Bridgewater, Liverpool

The top high school boys hockey teams are in Bridgewater and Liverpool.

The NSSAF Division 1 hockey championship opens today at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre and Queens Place Emera Centre.

Eight teams are competing to be provincial champion including Halifax West, North Nova, Glace Bay, Citadel, Dr. J.H. Gillis, Lockview, Sir John A MacDonald and the Park View Panthers.

Panthers Assistant Coach, Jeremy Stevens, says he feels they could make a run for the championship.

“You know, we have to be disciplined, we have to bury our chances which we struggled with this year. There is no reason why we can’t do it we have speed, size, our defence is great and our goalies have been great all year.”

Play gets underway this morning and wraps up with Sunday’s championship game at 1pm in Bridgewater.
