Doctors Nova Scotia Crying Foul Over Proposed Legislation

Doctors Nova Scotia is opposing legislation they feel takes away their right to arbitrate.

The controversial Bill 148, that mandates public sector contracts, limits how much an arbitrator can award.

Union CEO, Nancy McReady-Williams says, they’ve been negotiating with the government since the spring and can’t figure out where this is coming from.

“We’re making slow and steady progress. We see this as heavy-handed and unnecessary given the progress that’s been made to date.”

McReady-Williams says negotiations continue and nobody has threatened arbitration.

They were surprised they were included in the proposed legislation.
