Doctors NS Says NSLC Stores Not The Best Choice To Sell Cannabis

Doctors Nova Scotia doesn’t think NSLC stores are the best choice in selling legalized cannabis.

The organization has released six recommendations designed to encourage the province to take what it calls a population health approach to legalization.

Spokesperson, Dr. Tim Holland, says, ideally, cannabis should only be sold in government-owned stores that only sell that product and nothing else.

“It’s probably not ideal I’ve got to say. However, there are still ways that NSLC could be the distributor that are still in line with our goals.”

He says the primary goal is to disconnect the sale of alcohol and marijuana.

Dr. Holland says they’re pleased that, at the very least, select NSLC stores will have a separate area for cannabis.
