E-Cigarettes Debate Heating Up

Health organizations in Nova Scotia say the government is sending mixed messages with its laws surrounding e-cigarettes and flavoured tobacco. The Liberals are going to examine whether certain flavours should be exempt from a ban on flavoured tobacco and e-cigarette juice. They plan to hold consultations on the issue throughout the province. Smoke Free Nova Scotia says they are disappointed in the decision. President Krista McMullin says the flavoured products target youth. “Flavours like peach and grape are ‘kiddy flavours’. They are ‘kiddy flavours’.” The new legislation would still ban e-cigarettes use or vaping in indoor public places. It would also prohibit the sale of e-cigs to anyone under nineteen.
